DIGITAL ANXIETY

Digital anxiety as a literature term, it is a concept that refers to the feelings of stress, anxiety and uncertainty that individuals experience when interacting with digital technologies. Digital anxiety refers to the psychological disturbances caused by being constantly connected to technological devices such as computers, smartphones, social media and other digital tools.

Digital anxiety can be caused by various factors that individuals encounter while interacting with technology. However, there are ways to overcome this anxiety. By managing the constant information bombardment, setting boundaries for constant connection, being mindful of social media use, taking steps to protect online privacy, and embracing new digital tools at your own pace, you can reduce digital anxiety and enjoy the benefits of technology with confidence.

The effects of digital anxiety include symptoms such as cognitive fatigue, distraction, insomnia, social isolation and emotional burnout. As people constantly try to cope with emails, alerts and other digital communication tools, this can often have a negative impact on their long-term mental and emotional health.

A positive and moderate correlation was found between intense internet addiction and depression, anxiety and stress.

In a study conducted among high school students at a university in Turkiye, when digital media tools were assessed in terms of time of use, it was found that using more than three hours could be a possible risk factor.

One study found that people trying to cope with social anxiety found it helpful to support and connect with each other on social media. However this research also showed that people with social anxiety may be more prone to using social media platforms in an uncontrolled way.
